Lighting Gallery

Lighting Demo Reel - contains the lighting exercises of Window
Lamp and Paint to Scene with breakdowns of the key lights, fill
lights, and other rim and shadow lights; Egyptian Pyramids and the
season and time changes from "Plum Dumb" with screen grabs of
the geometry layouts and Shake composite trees, and the animation
sequences of "Plum Dumb" for the respective shots; and Monk
Dining Room. They are not presented in this particular order.
The video is compressed, and better quality images of the final
renders can be viewed below.

These are the ending shots for my thesis short "Plum Dumb". It shows
time passing through the use of changing seasons and time of day. The
programs Photoshop, Maya, and Shake were used in creating the images.

The goal of this project was to take a photograph and try to
recreate the scene as realistically as possible in Maya. The programs
Maya and Photoshop were used in creating the final image.

Egyptian Pyramids - contain the color study and final image for each
time of day. I was inspired by Monet's haystack color studies for
the project idea, and have also been using it to learn how to use
Maya's Mentalray rendering software.

Paint to Scene - contains the reference painting and the computer
generated scene that I produced based off of it. The original painting
is by Hiromu Arakawa. The objectives of this project were to
simulate creating a CG scene basing it off of a piece of artwork
that could have been passed to me from the concept art department,
and to get familiar with the mental ray shaders.

Window Lamp - contains the original photograph taken, with
touch-ups in Photoshop, a digital painting that was then used as a
matte painting in the background, and the final rendered image out
of Maya and Shake. The subject matter was chosen to challenge
myself in working more with reflections, raytrace, and shader library
created for use with mental ray.

All materials on this page were created by Jolie Nazor using the programs
Maya, Photoshop for texturing only, and Shake for final compositing.
